Een kompas-App op de smartphone helpt uiteraard maar ik kwam ook iets anders tegen.<\/p>\n<p>Je kan namelijk ook een peiling maken met je horloge, maar dan moet de zon wel schijnen of op zijn minst vaag achter de dunne bewolking te zien zijn. Door het horloge als kompas in te zetten maken we gebruik van het feit dat de stand van de zon in relatie staat tot de tijd en de richting. Dat de zon om twaalf uur in het zuiden staat is misschien wel bekend (opkomst oosten, ondergang westen) maar waar deze staat om kwart voor tien of half drie, dat is al lastiger.<\/p>\n<p>In het voorbeeld op het klokje is het bijna half twaalf &#8217;s morgens. Hou het klokje horizontaal, richt de kleine wijzer naar de zon en trek een denkbeeldige lijn langs deze wijzer naar de zon. Trek nu denkbeeldig een tweede lijn van de 6 uur langs de 12 uur aanduiding op de wijzerplaat en verder.
